MA/NA Mayfair is looking for an exceptional Assistant Head Sommelier to join our talented restaurant team.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Assistant Head Sommelier who is passionate about fine wine, sake and exceptional hospitality. Working closely with our Head Sommelier, you will help deliver one of London's most exciting beverage programmes whilst creating unforgettable guest experiences in one of Mayfair's most distinctive restaurants.

About the Role

As Assistant Head Sommelier, you will work alongside the Head Sommelier to deliver exceptional wine and sake service whilst maintaining the highest standards across every shift.

The Assistant Head Sommelier will confidently guide guests through our carefully curated wine list, recommending pairings that complement our Japanese-inspired menu and create memorable dining experiences. You will lead service with confidence, ensuring every guest receives knowledgeable, engaging and professional service.

You will also support the management of the wine cellar, stock control, supplier relationships and daily operational standards, helping to ensure the wine programme is always presented at its very best. Working closely with both the kitchen and front of house teams, the Assistant Head Sommelier will help deliver seamless service whilst contributing ideas to continually evolve our beverage offering.

Alongside the Head Sommelier, you will coach and develop junior sommeliers and front of house colleagues, sharing your knowledge and helping build a culture of continuous learning and genuine passion for wine.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for an Assistant Head Sommelier who has:

Previous experience as an Assistant Head Sommelier, Senior Sommelier or an experienced Sommelier within a premium restaurant
Excellent wine knowledge and a genuine passion for hospitality
Experience recommending wine pairings and delivering exceptional guest service
A strong interest in sake and Japanese cuisine (training can be provided)
WSET qualifications are desirable
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
The confidence to lead service and support the wider restaurant team
A positive attitude and a genuine desire to develop others
